Diversity at Whitby Heath Primary School
Diversity
At Whitby Heath, we are committed to creating a school environment where every child feels valued, seen, and heard. As we take steps to embed diversity into our curriculum, enrichment opportunities, and community links, we recognise the importance of ensuring that children from minority backgrounds see themselves reflected positively in their learning and school life.
Through an inclusive curriculum, we aim to celebrate diverse histories, cultures, and contributions, empowering all children with knowledge and pride in their identities. By providing enrichment opportunities—such as workshops, role models, and cultural events—we aim to foster understanding, challenge stereotypes, and promote unity. Strengthening our links with the wider community allows us to share lived experiences and create meaningful connections that inspire and educate.
Curriculum
All our curriculum subjects have short term and long term goals about how they are celebrating elements of Diversity within their subject along with specific teaching and learning aspects.

Enrichment Opportunities
Throughout the school we are pleased to be able to provide children with further opportunities outside the classroom curriculum to celebrate, learn and develop all aspects of culture and diversity. Each curriculum subject has elements that can be further enhanced by enrichment opportunities whether it's through external visitors, workshops or even visits and trips. Below are some of the enrichment opportunities available to children at Whitby Heath Primary.
Early Years - Local Trips, Theater Porto, Bastille Day
Key Stage 1 - Delamere Residential Day Trip, Police Workshops, Grandparent Day
Lower Key Stage 2 - Stone Age Day, Barstontdale Residential, Musical Minds
Upper Key Stage 2 - NSPCC Workshops, Robin Wood Residential, Airbus and Crucial Crew Workshops
We are also in process of making links with international schools to enable us to have a France School link for Years 2 -3 and an Africa School Link for Years 4-6.
Community Links
We are fortunate enough to have linked with Baroness Floella Benjamin who will be delivering a virtual workshop around her Children's Book "Coming to England" in Summer Term 2025.
We continue to be visited by Cheshire Phoneix Basketball and are currently pursuing further links with them around workshops for the children.
If you would like to be part of our Community Links as part of supporting our Diversity approach please get in contact with Mrs Ellison, Mrs Beach or Ms Brennan.
