Summer 2
Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely half term!
Our text for Summer 2 is 'Where the Forest Meets the Sea' by Jeannie Baker.
'When a young boy visits a tropical rainforest, he pretends it is a long time ago and that extinct and rare animals live in the forest, and aboriginal children play there. But how much longer will the rainforest remain, he wonders?'
In geography, we will be learning about caring for our planet. Our key question for this half term is...
How can we care for our planet and ensure its future?
We can't wait to hear and see what ideas you have on this intriguing topic!
Homework
Homework will be handed out on a Friday and is due back in to school on a Tuesday. We will be continuting to use Seesaw and Mathletics for our homework this year.
If you would like more details or help or tips about Seesaw please follow the link below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfkdDIH8EGc&feature=youtu.be
A QR code for Seesaw will be given out in September to log in. For Mathletics homework, a QR code will also be issued in September.
If you need a new QR code or your existing one isn't working, please contact Miss McLoughlin on the class email.
PE
Holly class will have their PE sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Monday's lesson is swimming in EPSV and Tuesday's lesson is outdoor PE.
Please ensure that your child comes into school with their swimming kit on Mondays and in their full kit on Tuesdays.
PE Uniform:
- White t-shirt
- Plain black shorts
- Black pumps for indoor PE
- Trainers for outdoor PE
- Tracksuits, sweatshirts and leggings can be worn for outdoor PE in colder weather
- Ear rings must be removed and long hair must be tied back
Times Tables
Please also practice the times tables that your child is on. Children are tested twice every week and cannot move on to the next times table until they have passed their current level three times. This includes multiplication and division.
Reading
Children should be reading at home every evening. Please listen to your child read as often as possible and record this in their reading record. Reading books and reading records should be brought into school every day.
Bug Club is a fantastic online resource which will encourage your child to explore a wider range of books and allows your child to read their level reading books in a digital format. All children have a login and can access the website through an internet browser.

Mathletics
Please encourage your child to log on to Mathletics as often as possible in order to improve their maths knowledge. The Mathletics app can be downloaded on most tablets or you can access Mathletics through an internet browser.
