Schools Direct -The Port Alliance
The Port Alliance – providing outstanding Initial Teacher Education in the heart of Ellesmere Port. School Direct is an exciting way to train as a teacher, which allows you to choose the school where you want to train with the prospect of a potential job at the end of your training.
For the last three years The Whitby High School, along with our partner Primary schools have been training teachers with the support of The University of Chester. We recruit and select our own trainees, who will spend the majority of their time in our classrooms but will gain accredited Teaching status and a PGCE from The University of Chester.
Choosing to train with The Port Alliance means you will work in a number of diverse settings, alongside professional teachers who have a wealth of experience in teacher training.
You could receive up to a tax-free bursary.
In partnership with the University of Chester, we have a wealth of initial teacher training experience and offer a bespoke training opportunity over one or two years which will inspire you to become an outstanding teacher.
The fee paying route is open to all graduates and funded by tuition fees paid by the candidates. Bursaries are offered in subjects where need is greatest. The salaried route is open to graduates with three or more years’ career experience. Candidates would be employed as an unqualified teacher with a salary subsidised by the government.
