Phonics

The children have daily phonics sessions, they learn 3 new sounds a week and there are reading and writing days for each sound. Phase 2 phonics focuses on initial alphabet sounds and phase 3 teaches simple blends such as ch, sh, th, ng, er. Then towards the end of the year the children moved on to phase 4 which is the initial constant blends such as scr, thr, gr, pl.
