Summer 2
Our enquiry question this half term is:
What is the impact of human consumerism on endangered species?
This is a geography based unit. We will look at the impact of Palm oil on Indonesia and Malayasia, looking at a case study of the industry in Borneo.
In Science, our topic will be Living Things and their Habitats. We will continue to learn about life cycles of humans and animals, gestation periods and how plants reproduce.
Our English text is 'The Hunter' by Paul Geraghty.
Our Guided Reading text is 'African Tales' .
Important Information
PE days
Our PE days are Tuesday (indoor lesson) and Thursday (outdoor lesson).
Please come to school in PE kit and ensure you are wearing the correct kit:
- Black pumps for indoor lessons
- Trainers for outdoor lessons
- A plain white, navy or black T-shirt
- Plain black shorts
- A plain black, blue or grey tracksuit
Reading
Reading at home should be done as frequently as possible with the aim of reading 5 times a week. Children should bring their reading book and reading record to school every day as there are many opportunities for reading. Reading records will be checked every Friday using our Strive for Five!
SeeSaw
Seesaw is our virtual classroom, which we use in school and at home. This is where we will set homework and make important announcments about school . There will also be times we upload work in school.
English homework will be set every week on Seesaw and Maths homework on alternative weeks with Mathletics. Please check the newsletter under the 'letters' tab for homework dates.
Maths
Mathletics is updated every other week with tasks linked to our learning. When those tasks are completed, children can access any tasks to earn points for certificates (homework tasks also earn points). Mathletics log ins are stuck in the front of reading records.
Timestables Rockstars is a great way to practice multiplication facts in preparation for our weekly timestables challenge. Children all have an individual login which is stuck in the front of their reading record. Keep an eye out for battles and challenges.
